Well....I did both. I went BIG, and went to Tahoe City with Chris, Aaron, and Shannon... we stayed at this awesome ski cabin, right near Lake Tahoe (avg depth....1000 fucking feet!), and all was good. I got some kick ass snowpants (that I'll probably find ugly by next year), we had some good beer, an awesome dinner...all was going well. Until sunday....
I decided to test my invincibility.... on the Sierra Mountains. Snowboard in hand (or...on feet, actually), I "hit the slopes". Ha! Yeah...I sure did. I wiped out several times (which is to be expected my first time really snowboarding....). Still...I kept a pretty positive attitude...(coulda been a lot worse). Anyhow...all was going well, until I went around a corner (?), and hit some little kid. Woops! Yeah....no shit. He was fine...he fell on top of me.... but I was not fine. I hit my head pretty hard...with his extra weight on top of me. Argh. Damn kid.
So...like a rockstar, I thought I could handle it. Not so much. I got a cold, my head bothered me, and my ribs were tender. Oh, and I was really tired. We celebrated the new year (w00t) in Tahoe, and it was really nice....just the 4 of us at the Cabin... and we headed back to SFO on New Years Day (my grampa's anniversary). I stayed in SFO for a few days, but felt like shit! Headaches, runny nose, fever...the usual crappy feeling. I had plans to meet up with Morgan Wider, Safety Chris 2, Zoe, and maybe Whit.... but I just couldn't do it. I had plans to go to humbolt county (pot growing capital of the US) to hang out with Kerul...but again...I just couldn't do it. And finally, I had hoped to make it to portland to see Anna Gordon...but alas, I had to go home. 310 dollars later (for a one way ticket....ugh!), I was back home. Being sick and being home is better than being sick and being in someone else's house/room/space.
It's good to be home, although I went to the Dr, and I have/had a concussion, I have a few bruised ribs, and apparently I have a cyst in my sinus (?). So yeah... I'm happy to be home, resting.... but wishing I'd get better soon (there's a long jump competition this weekend!). It's hard for me to sit still... especially when I am supposed to. You know? I don't have work until next week...so I've got a lot of time to rest/heal/do homework/clean, etc...
So...big shout out and thank you to Safety Chris 1 for hosting me in San Fran! And yay for new friends Aaron and Shannon, such good people.
Not sure when I'll be back in Cali. I've been twice, and both times...it didn't go exactly as planned. I'd still like to take a train to portland.... someday.
